Rochester Piano
About Us

I am Fred Hamaker, owner of Rochester Piano Service, and my ambition is to provide you with quality piano service at competitive prices.  A product of Rochester's ties to music and technology, I am both devoted to the scientific method and a lover of inspired performance.  Drumming in clubs paid for my engineering degree from the University of Rochester, where I also studied piano at Eastman School of Music.

My father, Ralph, is also a musician and engineer.  He is involved in Rochester Piano Service as a developer and fabricator of specialized tools used in this trade.

My father introduced me to piano tuning at an early age.  Later, during an engineering career at Eastman Kodak, I enhanced this training and ultimately became a Registered Piano Technician (RPT), certified by the Piano Technicians Guild.  I was also educated at Yamaha Corporation's renowned "Little Red School House" in Los Angeles, and then at the CF Theodore Steinway Academy in New York City.  In addition to internet forum participation, I regularly attend national conventions, regional events, and local seminars - these activities enhance my knowledge base, thereby benefiting my customers.  Finally, I gratefully acknowledge the enrichment received from local mentors past and present.
Doing Business with Us

Rochester Piano Service was formerly called Stay Tuned - only the name has changed - this to reach a local audience more effectively via the internet.  We are fully insured under either name, and our contact information remains the same.
Normal business hours are Monday-Friday 8am -5pm, but performance and customer schedules are accommodated whenever possible.

We are driven to finding the root cause of problems and offering appropriate options, when necessary.  It would be a privilege to earn your business, and we look forward to learning how we might do so.
